I really enjoy reading the information on your website. Many years ago, when I first heard the name French River, I felt a connection to it. Thanks for the work you put into your site.

Hi all,
My relatives and I are Woodland Metis from Sturgeon and the French River. My Grandfather was killed very young and we have never had a close relationship with that side of the family ever since he passed. I have reecently become active in the Native community at my University in Ottawa and many of my friends reconginize my last name from the Sturgeon area. My Grandmothers side are the Larbies and of Metis decent I am wondering if there are any conenctions out there as I feel like I am at a point in my life where so many questions and family members are unknow to me and I am missing this part of my life.
Hello well looking for info about the first truly Metis celebration I came upon your site,my people are from Quebec and some of the first Metis families in Canada my first relative was Martin-Prevost who married Marie-Olivier-Sylvestre Mannitouab8wich and Jean-Lafortune Durand who married Catherine Anenontha Annennontak her father was Roch Mantoubewich and mother Koeous Outchibahabanou they were from the Huron Algonquin-Abenaki Indian Tribe settlement in Quebe City, Catherines father was a chieftain of the Bear Clan of the Hurons and was massacred by the Iroquis when Catherine was still a baby and she was raised bt the nuns,my grand mother was a Durand ,hence see Louis Durand Voyageur on line, just type in Louis Durand Voyageur,we have several other connection with other tribes,I would like more information on your French River Metis Tribe and how my wife and myself can join,my wife is also Metis, from the Bilodeau family from Manitoba thanks for your time and I am glad I found your site Russell Pierre Drolette
